Assam: Senior AGP Leader and Former MLA Binod Gowala Passes Away

GUWAHATI: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and former Assam minister who represented the Sarupathar constituency, Binod Gowala passed away on Wednesday 13 April.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to express his sadness over the sudden demise of the AGP chief and prays for his soul.

The chief minister taking to his Twitter account offers deepest condolences and stated that late Gowala was a man of the masses who has served people with utmost sincerity and probity throughout his life.

The senior AGP leader Binod Gowala has also served as the Assam Minister for Border Development at the time when the state government was led by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

Gowala represented the Sarupathar constituency of Assam's Golaghat district and served as an MLA (Member of legislative assembly) in the years 1978, 1991, 1996 and 2008.

The four-time MLA has played a major role in the victory and success of the Asom Gana Parishad across the state and gained much recognition serving the 94-Sarupathar constituency.

Apart from the chief minister other state ministers also tweeted condolences messages over the demise of the notable politician from Assam.

The minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Jogen Mohan took to Twitter to offer deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased and expressed his grief over the news.

BJP spokesperson and Social Activist Jury Sharma Bordoloi also wrote on Twitter expressing deep sadness by the tragic loss of the senior AGP chief and paid heartfelt condolences to the near and dear ones.
